VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - In urgent situations, the last thing emergency personnel need to worry about is if they're using their equipment properly. STIHL understands the unique demands of emergency services work and is offering a new depth limiter for use with the MS 460 R STIHL Magnum™ "RESCUE" Chain Saw to optimize its performance on the job.

The depth limiter is a solid metal encasement that covers the chain saw's guide bar (special guide bar is included in depth limiter kit), easily adjusting from zero- to eight-inch cutting depths with the turn of a knob. This new, optional feature provides rescue personnel with optimal cutting control and steady cutting depth for the toughest applications.

The depth limiter is one of many features specifically designed with emergency crews in mind. The STIHL MS 460 Rescue Saw is equipped with a large starter handle, which makes the saw easier to start when wearing heavy-duty protective gloves; a built in tool holder, which keeps a bar wrench handy for convenient and fast chain adjustments; and a muffler shield, which keeps meltable debris away from the muffler.

With its powerful 76.7 cc engine and specially designed, heavy-duty carbide-tipped chain (36 RDS - Rapid Duro Special), the MS 460 Rescue Saw is suited for cutting thin metal sheeting, structural house framing or other materials encountered in emergency service use. Other features include: side access tensioning, which is designed to prevent users from fumbling at the front of the saw for chain adjustment screws; an extended chip deflector, which helps guide debris away from the operator; and a wrap-around style front handle, which provides maximum maneuverability.
